Meet Jane Ough

Meet our Climate Change Ambassador

Dr Jane Ough is a senior companion animal veterinarian at South Wairarapa Veterinary Services. She graduated from Massey University School of Veterinary Science in 1982 and has a particular interest in orthopaedic surgery. In 2010, Jane completed a diploma in Environment and Sustainability through Open Polytechnic.

Jane and her partner, Jeremy, have covenanted two thirds of their small farm with the Queen Elizabeth II Trust to protect its biodiversity and heritage. Working part-time for the Queen Elizabeth II Trust for two years improved Jane's understanding of native forest regeneration. She now uses this time to work on her own covenant and help South Wairarapa Veterinary Services implement their climate change initiatives.

In 2022, the NZVA appointed Jane as our Climate Change Ambassador. This is a voluntary role supported by SustainaVet and the NZVA office. Jane supports and mentors members, clinics and the NZVA office to reduce carbon emissions and implement sustainable practices in their workplaces.

Jane volunteers her time for the NZVA on Fridays. To get in touch with her, please email climatechange@vets.org.nz.
