About the course

No matter what surgical technique you use for treating your cruciate patients, postoperative rehabilitation is essential. This one-day workshop teaches practical manual therapy techniques and therapeutic exercises using real patients. You will leave the day with the skills to start using cruciate rehab as a new service in your clinic. Suitable for surgeons and nurses who manage patients with cranial cruciate ligament disease treated by any surgical technique.

Learning outcomes

  • Practice manual rehabilitation therapies on canine patients
  • Learn how to assess your patients throughout their rehab
  • Understand healthy postoperative biomechanics and function
  • Practice using a 14-week postoperative cruciate protocol of exercises and activity guidelines you can individualise for each patient

Tutor

Elena Saltis - BSc, PTNZ, CCRT, NZAVPA, APA Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist, NZ Registered Physiotherapist
Elena graduated from the Ohio State University in Physiotherapy and previously owned Physiotherapy NZ, a multi-clinic human physiotherapy practice. She is a NZ registered human physiotherapist and is certified as a canine rehabilitation therapist through the Canine Rehabilitation Institute in the USA, where she is now an instructor for the course. Elena has undergone extensive post graduate courses and internships in the USA and Australia and has gained significant experience in orthopaedics, spinal rehab, manual therapy, neurology and sports medicine in both humans and animals. Elena owns AnimalPhysioNZ and leads a team of canine rehabilitation therapists in Christchurch, New Zealand. Elena has also set up a rehabilitation clinic in Spain within a Galgos (Spanish Greyhound) sanctuary, where she frequently travels to volunteer
