About the course
This interactive course will provide you with the skills and knowledge to assess the individual patient in the peri-operative period and cover a variety of challenges. After this course you will feel confident in planning for the individual difficult case as well as being able to advise your clinic on best practice with regards to premedication, monitoring and individual care in the peri-operative period. This course will feature a ‘how do I deal with…..’ session where you pose questions to the tutors on your own cases. The practical session will include an overview of CPR techniques.

Matthew Gurney BVSc, CertVA, PgCertVBM, DipECVAA, MRCVS, RCVS & EBVS
Matt graduated from University of Liverpool in 2003 and spent several years enjoying mixed practice before returning to Liverpool to undertake a residency in anaesthesia and analgesia. From 2009 to 2018 he worked in a referral hospital in the northwest of the UK, heading south late 2018 to a multidisciplinary specialist hospital for a new challenge. Matt’s main interests are in pain management in both the acute and chronic setting and team building. Matt is Vice President of the European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia & Analgesia.
Carl Bradbrook BVSc, CertVA, DipECVAA, MRCVS, RCVS & EBVS
Carl graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2002 and after a few years in mixed practice undertook a residency in anaesthesia and intensive care at The Royal Veterinary College. He worked as an independent anaesthesia consultant for a number of years, before moving to be based in a multidisciplinary hospital in the south of England in October 2018.
Carl is currently Junior Vice President of the Association of Veterinary Anaesthetists. His main areas of interest are the use of regional local anaesthetic techniques and monitoring of ventilation during anaesthesia.
