We will be meeting Tuesday 19 March at Hotel Ashburton (35 Racecourse Road, Ashburton). Social time starts at 6pm, with talks kicking-off at 6:30. Light food will be available.
As of October 1st 2019 the disbudding and dehorning regulations will come into effect – meaning you will likely see an increase in the number of farmers (and non-veterinarian technicians) requesting authorisation of local anaesthetic on farm.
In preparation, the DCV has created guidelines to assist veterinarians to have confidence when supplying local to use in calf disbudding. DCV have also created a training document veterinarians may choose to use when training non-veterinary staff to administer local effectively, and disbud calves safely.
Come along to be introduced to these documents, and learn how to navigate the process of authorisation of local anaesthetic, including VOIs.
Scott McDougall presents the latest findings from research into effective dry cow therapy (DCT) in partnership with Cognosco, DairyNZ and the Sustainable Farming Fund. Scott will discuss tools and strategies to balance milk quality outcomes with sustainable antibiotic use.
Scott is also delivering this information to farmers with DairyNZ earlier on the same day. Please share these events with your farmers, and feel free to attend yourself if you are interested.
Event details are on the DairyNZ website.
Leptosure has been running as a programme since 2002 with the aim to prevent dairy farm workers from contracting leptospirosis and assist workplaces to fulfil their Health and Safety obligations.
Leptosure had great uptake and success during the early years, but participation has dwindled over time. DCV is looking to change the Leptosure programme to encourage greater uptake, and reduce human cases of leptospirosis further.
Join us to discuss what Leptosure will look like in future.
There are a number of complex issues facing the industry at the moment. Participate in a discussion session with DCV and NZVA to explore where you would like the veterinary voice to be heard. Help us to focus on the issues of greatest importance to you.
Any questions about these meetings can be directed to firstname.lastname@example.org
We look forward to seeing you there!
