TB Schemes
The programme
There are two TB Testing Quality Assurance Schemes available for veterinary practitioners involved in TB testing in deer and cattle. Both schemes are administered by the TB Quality Standards Committee (TQSC), these programs focus on pest management strategies as a means of controlling bovine tuberculosis. All TB testing officers are accredited.
What's involved
The foundation stone of both of these schemes are the training manuals developed by the Deer Branch and the TQSC - in conjunction with the Animal Health Board. The manuals are provided to every veterinarian who registers their intention to TB test deer or cattle.
The benefits
These schemes ensure that veterinarians involved in TB testing consistently meet the specifications for the control and testing of tuberculosis in New Zealand.
