Vet wellbeing

Vets and Stress

To ensure the wellbeing of all our veterinary practitioners, we, together with the Veterinary Council of New Zealand (VCNZ), offer a Vets and Stress programme.

The programme is designed to help identify and manage stress in the workplace. Available to NZVA members and new veterinary graduates, Vets and Stress offers a confidential counselling service and a 24 hour phone service that’s open seven days a week.

Counselling is offered through Vitae, the national provider of workplace wellbeing services. Appointments can be made via the 24-hour free-phone service 0508 664 981 or on completion of a self-referral Counselling Form.

Our useful information booklet, Vets and Stress, will give you tips to identify and manage stress.

The Elizabeth Veterinary Benevolent Fund

Today it also provides other support services for NZVA members, such as:

The fund receives income from donations and legacies, including annual contributions from the NZVA, the Veterinary Council of New Zealand (VCNZ) and the Institute of Veterinary, Animal and Biomedical Sciences (IVABS).

If you'd like to support The Elizabeth Veterinary Benevolent Fund please call us on 04 471 0484 or email nzva [at] vets [dot] org [dot] nz

The NZVA would like like to extend a huge 'thank you' to the Henry Schein Cares Foundation and Provet for their generous donation to the Elizabeth Veterinary Benevolent Fund in 2011. The donation will allow the fund to build its investment base and expand its support to NZVA members over time.
