Resources for schools
Attitudes towards animals are formed early in life and for many children, school may be the only place where they can experience how to handle and look after animals.
The Animals in Schools Education Trust (AISET) provides resources for schools in New Zealand to teach children about caring for animals.
The inclusion of animal topics and animal welfare within the school curricula helps promote the importance of caring of animals. Learning, early on, to look after animals means that children carry this knowledge and respect with them throughout their lives.
AISET also believes education about animal welfare has a positive impact on how children care for each other.
AISET has produced Caring for Animals - a guide for Teachers, Early Childhood Educators and Students. Find out more about this and other AISET-endorsed teaching resources.
