Mulesing
Policy Type:
Policy
Status:
Current policy
Manual Reference:
6a
Date ratified:
30 June 2011
Policy
The NZVA believes that mulesing is an unacceptable procedure and does not condone the use of the procedure in New Zealand under any circumstances. Whilst the practice may have been justifiable historically, Merino farmers today have other practical options available to minimise the risk of fly strike.
