Your chance to send a vet nurse to Tonga!

South Pacific Animal Welfare's latest fundraiser will see veterinary clinics across New Zealand competing to raise the most money, with the top two clinics each choosing a vet nurse to send to Tonga for up to two weeks to support the Tongan community in their care of animals.

SPAW's activities

SPAW is a New Zealand charity run by professionals who donate their time to provide free veterinary care, animal aid and training/development to South Pacific island nations.  As well as de-sexing and treating animals, and providing training and development to island vet technicians, SPAW volunteers also educate local people about humane treatment of animals, encouraging and inspiring them to be the champions of their own animal welfare.

In 2012, SPAW's goal is to develop their funding capabilities to build a new animal centre on the Kingdom of Tonga which will incorporate a veterinary clinic with training and humane education services.

The competition

The competition is a fun way for SPAW to raise money for building the animal centre in Tonga, culminating in two lucky veterinary nurses being flown to Tonga to participate in SPAW's June clinic, as well as turtle-watching, a round island tour of Tongatapu and generally having an experience of a lifetime.

To enter, simply register before Friday 17 February, then raise as much money as you can between 20 February and 23 April 2012.
