The Modified Maquet Procedure (MMP) is an evolution of the TTA procedure for treatment of lameness due to cranial cruciate failure.
The instrumentation and implants combine to enable a simplified, less invasive surgical technique. The RidgeStop™ implant increases the height of the trochlear ridge forming an effective barrier against patella luxation. This novel surgical technique is a minimally traumatic alternative to sulcoplasty.


Practical Orthopaedic Training Opportunity SOP™ Locking Plate Fracture Fixation

The SOP™ is a locking plate system for use in veterinary orthopaedics. Locking plates are powerful and versatile implants but the mechanics and methods of application are significantly different from conventional plate systems. The course will cover locking plate mechanics, case selection, methods of application as well as modes of failure and a review of the extensive published literature on the SOP™ system.

Format

MMP and RidgeStop™

The morning session will cover MMP for canine cruciate lameness. Initial lecture covering the theoretical foundations of TTA followed by how to perform the MMP procedure. Then a practical wet lab session with delegates working in small groups with each delegate having the opportunity to perform the procedure themselves.

The afternoon session will be a practical wet lab session with small groups, following after lectures overviewing patella luxation and the RidgeStop™ procedure.

SOP™ Locking Plate Fracture Fixation

Morning lecture based covering the theoretical foundations followed by half day practical wet lab session with delegates working in small groups. Each delegate will be using implants in a range of applications.

Both workshops are suitable for any veterinary practitioner with an interest in orthopaedics.

Delegates will come away with the ability to perform the MMP procedure, know when to select cases for MMP, know the biomechanics and theoretical foundations of MMP, when to treat for patella luxation, and have complete confidence in carrying out a RidgeStop™ procedure.

Our courses are a balance of theory and practical and open to all veterinary surgeons regardless of level or experience. We take our education very seriously and once the course finishes, the support we offer doesn’t. Our technical team are available to answer questions and offer advice whenever needed. 

More than 30 000  dogs have been successfully treated with MMP in more than 400 centres across UK, Europe North America, Australia and New Zealand. MMP and RidgeStop are designed to be relatively simple procedures with short surgery time and convalescence.

SOP™ Locking Plate Fracture Fixation

You will know the features of the locking plates, be able to make better case selection and clinical application, and have the technical ability to use SOP™ in a range of orthopaedic applications.

The SOP system locks using standard cortical screws. The plates are contourable in any plane and cuttable meaning a single plate on the shelf can be applied in a vast range of different applications; great for reducing inventory costs.


Tutor

Scott Rutherford BVMS, CertSAS, DipECVS, MRCVS, RCVS and European Specialist in Small Surgery

After graduating from Glasgow University in 2001, Scott spent six years in general practice before moving to Croft Veterinary Hospital in Northumberland in 2007 where he completed an ECVS residency in Small Animal Surgery in 2012, which included extensive training in orthopaedics, soft tissue surgery, and neurosurgery. Scott became a European Veterinary Specialist in Small Animal Surgery in 2013 and an RCVS Specialist in 2014. He spent two years at North Downs Specialist Referrals before moving to Willows Referral Services in March 2015.


CPD points

Activities in both workshops can be recorded under either continuing veterinary education or collegial learning activity.
